Still Feels Right

Recently, a BLABLA addicted patient from my London days sent me photos of pieces from his collection.

Seeing those pieces again brought up feelings I can’t quite put into words.

It’s not just nostalgia. I still love the way they look and feel!!

There is something unpolished about them. Something wild, raw and a little unpredictable.

I haven’t lost that feeling.

Looking at them made me think about what I really want to create.

I want to keep making things based on what I feel like making at that moment. Not because someone asked me to, or because I think something will sell.(Maybe that’s why I’m still running an independent label after all these years.)

I want to make things that come from somewhere inside me, without overthinking them. I don’t want to follow trends. I want to follow my own instincts.

And for Blabla, evolution doesn't mean becoming more polished, more refined or more perfect.

I want to keep evolving, but not by making everything cleaner.

I want to be freer in the way I create. To make things as naturally and instinctively as I used to doodle on walls as a kid. (Now, nobody would tell me off.)

I don’t want to go back to the past. I want to take that raw energy somewhere new.

Seeing those old pieces again made me want to push my own style further.
I want to keep creating work that feels right to me, even years later.
